Planate Management Group LLC Lead Mechanic (to be based in Iraq) in New Orleans, Louisiana

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Lead Mechanic will serve the VMSS task order in support of the U.S. Department of State (DOS). Perform major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of mission vehicles.

This position will be based in Iraq and is contingent on the award of the contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment.

  • Supervise mechanics and inspect completed repairs.

  • Oversee the rebuilding, replacement, or repair of major vehicle components, assemblies, and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc.

  • Estimate time and materials required to perform major repairs.

  • Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.

  • Train mechanics and mechanic helpers.

  • Ensure established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties are followed.

  • Ensure shop, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition.

  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

    Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Advanced knowledge of diesel, gasoline and electric engine/motor maintenance and repair.

  • Able to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently.

  • Able to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a mechanic.

  • High school diploma and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license from home of record.

  • US citizen and third-country national personnel. Local National personnel must be approved by the host country’s Regional Security Officer

  • Excellent English communication skills, interpersonal, and technical writing skills

  • Resourceful, self-reliant, self-motivated
