Ford Motor Company Export Carrier & Emergency Service Delivery Engineer in Nanjing, China

This position will lead connected features design, implementation, and verification of vehicle-based carrier & emergency service, mainly focusing on eCall and eUICC. It will primarily interface Ford global team, JV PD, cloud service & operation, program, and suppliers to ensure timely deliverables with quality, and compliant with legal requirements of target markets.

  1. Lead deployment of connected features of Carrier & Emergency Services including requirement analysis, design, development, and resource planning.

  2. Work with E&SC and OGC to achieve regulatory and legal requirements of target markets.

  3. Support resolving connected vehicle feature after-sales complains.

  4. Coordinate cross functional work streams in delivering key components for connected vehicle features, which may include in-vehicle modules (TCU, ECG, IVI, …), and cloud backend systems.

  5. Prepare status report for regular management review.

  6. Closely monitor industrial trend and ensure competitive advantage in target markets.

  7. Explore and maintain partnerships with global and local suppliers.

  • Extensive experience in developing products, features, or systems in the automotive industry.

  • Extensive experience in developing and documenting feature, product, or systems specifications; either in-band eCall or NG-eCall related experience is plus.

  • Familiar with designing systems, subsystems, features, or components and performing systems analysis.

  • Familiar with developing and managing failure mode effect analysis.

  • Familiar with conducting root cause analysis to support triage and provide issue resolution.

  • Familiar with performing vehicle model development, analysis, and delivery; or performing model-based calibration with analytical models and tools.

  • Familiar with CAN/LIN/SOA knowledges and using related tools.

  • Understand the basic concepts of developing software for simulation tools; and conducting feature level testing in connected vehicles.

  • Understand the basic concepts of LTE, 5GNR, eUICC re-credentials, and other related 3GPP and GSMA standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.

  • Solid knowledge about one of vehicle OEMs’ Product Creation Process, such as Ford GPDS.

  • Familiarity with decision making process in large organizations.

  • Solid knowledge in engineering change control and resource management.

  • Good understanding of telematics services and global market desire.

  • Ability to triage, analyze system issues, and make proper assignment to different component owners.

  • Highly fluent oral and written English.
