Amazon Principal Business Development, Automotive Software (Smart Vehicles) in Munich, Germany

Description

We are seeking an experienced Business Development leader to recruit and engage automotive manufacturers for Amazon.

Amazon Smart Vehicles (ASV) is creating transformative products and services that enable automotive OEMs to deliver personalized, proactive, and intuitive digital experiences that delight drivers and passengers, keeping them informed, entertained, and productive while in their vehicles.

As a Principal Business Development Manager you will influence and build relationships with top automotive manufacturers to drive revenue and increase our reach to customers in vehicles. You have a proven track record of engaging with senior leadership, engineering, commercial and procurement teams at automotive manufacturers, hunting, owning and executing automotive software deals. This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to influence and manage a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple teams, internally and externally.

Using your deep knowledge of the automotive industry and a solution-oriented mindset you will identify and develop opportunities for Amazon Smart Vehicles in the automotive industry. You are an excellent communicator and you possess an analytical approach to business development, leveraging data to drive decisions. You are highly organized and have the ability to work closely and constructively across functional teams. You're particularly adept at developing strong, one-to-one relationships and possess a track record of successful negotiation.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identify, negotiate and close business with automotive manufacturers for ASV’s product and services.

  • Interact with legal, commercial, project management and technical teams inside Amazon.

  • Brief Amazon executive teams on progress in adopting Alexa and related services.

  • Build relationships and interface with all levels of automotive manufacturers, dealing with senior executives, commercial managers, and technical managers.

  • 'Think big' to find solutions that delight our customers and auto manufacturers, working with other divisions within Amazon as needed.

  • Build business cases for opportunities and review them with commercial management and senior leaders in ASV.

  • Work together with product teams to create solutions that are the right fit for automotive manufacturers and end customers alike.

Basic Qualifications

  • Professional experience in the automotive industry, closing strategic and complex deals.

  • Professional experience in Business Development, Corporate Development, Product Management / Product Marketing, Partner Management, or Engineering Leadership.

  • Experience with business models, contractual setups and distributing software/services.

  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements.

  • Extraordinary business writing skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and managing successful large-scale and complex partnerships.

  • Experience with consumer electronics, automotive, Smart Home, and/or IoT and other connected devices.

  • Solid experience working cross functionally with technical products and teams, understanding technical details.

  • Strong analytical orientation; comfortable using data to make decisions.

  • Exceptional ability to communicate with and influence executives, and both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience driving multiple tasks in highly ambiguous environments and decision processes.

  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
