Senior Engineer - Metallurgy

Mapleton, IL

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world. We are looking for a Senior Metallurgical Engineer who will design, develop, build and evaluate metallurgical processes and iron castings.

Responsibilities

  • Providing ownership, support, and advancement of key metallurgical processes in the production of iron castings.

  • Performing data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts.

  • Testing products, analyzing test data, and making modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.

  • Building, testing, and modifying metallurgical processes in the foundry and lab using working models and/or theoretical models.

Degree Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent program.

Experience Requirement:

Professional experience in foundry, metallurgy/ met lab, or other manufacturing roles.
