Purpose of Position:

The Business Development Executive - Intermodal plays a crucial role in expanding our company's footprint in the intermodal transportation sector. This position is dedicated to securing new business opportunities, retaining and growing existing accounts, and achieving sales targets through innovative strategies and deep industry knowledge.

The role demands a proactive approach to customer engagement, with a focus on building new sustainable relationships and delivering customized, effective intermodal solutions. This is a hunter role.

Key Accountabilities:

GROWTH

  • Analyze market trends to inform sales strategies.

  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline through effective lead generation, networking, and leveraging industry events and conferences.

  • Develop tailored proposals and negotiate contracts to win new accounts intermodal transportation expanding our client base and increasing market share.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create targeted campaigns and promotional materials that highlight our intermodal capabilities and success stories.

RETENTION

  • Develop and implement comprehensive account plans that align with clients' objectives and offer value-added intermodal solutions.

  • Regularly review account performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery and customer experience.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to meet client needs and operational requirements.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing any issues or concerns promptly to ensure a seamless and positive experience.

  • Qualifications:

  • College/University graduate in Business, Logistics or related field.

  • 4-5 years’ sales experience managing large National Accounts is required.

  • (Intermodal & Railway Experience Preferred)

  • Transportation industry experience is required.

  • Customer service and account management experience is preferred.

  • Required Skills:

  • Strong MS Office skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Creative and effective problem solving ability

  • Strong selling and presentation skills

  • Good knowledge of North American transportation modes, competition and customers.

  • Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong verbal communication skills, relationship building and interpersonal skills

  • Strong customer service focus

  • Well-organized, enthusiastic, creative, professional and a positive team member

  • Ability to deal with rejection

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong business relationships

Supervision:

This position reports to the Director Of Intermodal. The immediate supervisor and/or department leader periodically checks assignments for progress. This position has no authority over other members of the team and has no direct reports.

Decision Making and Judgment:

Work is assigned and there is considerable scope to decide on priorities and the procedures to be used. Work is generally only checked for achievement of the assignment or objectives of the project.
