Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Zero Emissions department is focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts that eliminate harmful emissions in the heavy and medium duty transportation industries. The PACCAR Zero Emissions Powertrain department is developing new electrified components to support applications in the global product offerings under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and Leyland brands. This role will lead a high voltage battery team to develop, validate, implement, and support the electrical and electronics internal to the battery pack, including packaging for current and future battery systems. The successful candidate will have experience in the battery technology area, have supervisory experience and be able to work in a collaborative environment across multiple business units.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers to develop, implement and support high voltage battery systems for use on heavy duty commercial vehicles. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to: Electronics Integration, High/Low Voltage Harnesses and Bus Bars, Battery Cell Interconnects, Battery Electrical Layout and Architecture.

  • Collaborate with internal software and powertrain engineering teams to optimize battery designs to meet overall electric vehicle performance targets.

  • Utilize a standardized phase/gate product creation process to deliver high quality engineering designs aligned with program schedules.

  • Champion innovation through collaboration, personal initiative, and team motivation.

  • Provide engineering analysis and designs for expanding EV applications as customers adopt the technology into new market segments

  • Support rapid troubleshooting and problem resolution related to battery system scope of responsibility

  • Up to 20% travel (domestic and international)

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of HV battery and control systems and their use in commercial applications.

  • Experience in battery pack design and assembly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability leading a technical team to achieve timely objectives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new processes and techniques. Be resourceful with problem solving approach.

  • Willingness to be outgoing, engaging, and demonstrated passion to deliver top quality results.

    Education

  • BS Degree in engineering or related technical field required and 7+ years of experience.

  • MS Degree and 4+ years of experience preferred.
