The Hershey Company Sr. Controls Specialist (2nd Shift) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

  • Location:* Lancaster, PA * Please note: This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Friday, 2:30pm - 10:30pm. * Summary: The Hershey Company Y&S Lancaster plant is a non-union plant producing Licorice products such as Twizzlers, Nibs, and Pull & Peel in a high-speed complex environment. This position provides electrical support for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant electrical and control systems to ensure that production lines and plant processes are operational. This includes processing & packaging control systems, power distribution systems, motor control equipment, and network & data security components. * Responsibilities:* * Technical leadership - Provide technical leadership and support to plant Operational and Maintenance staff in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and optimization of existing electrical controls, instrumentation, networking, power systems, PLC, HMI, servo, controls networking systems, control safety systems, NFPA 70E, industrial computer systems, motor control, distributed control systems, and other automation * Continuous improvement – Support the plant’s Maintenance functions, lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts * Projects - Provide technical assistance to internal and external project teams, develop, write, and manage projects of limited scope, assist project teams with equipment checkout and startup, coordinate contractors, engineer & design solutions * Electrical documentation and software control – Ensure that the plant electrical drawings and software are securely maintained and kept up to date * Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:* * Willing to occasionally work shifts other than primary shift assignment * Breadth of expertise in several types of manufacturing equipment and related operations (Processing equipment, Packaging, Systems Controls, Mechanical/Electrical) * Ability to provide technical information about problem resolutions and other learning points as needed (typically via shift notes) * Ability to provide technical support to supplier companies, external technical resources & internal customers (includes Engineering, Plant Staff, Co-Manufacturing, Operations Planning, Acquisitions, Finance, Warehouse Administration) * Ability to provide technical problem resolution and implementation on existing manufacturing systems as well as on new systems being installed * Ability to identify and implement creative technical solutions for complex equipment and system problems utilizing existing and new technologies while meeting manufacturing requirements * Ability to coordinate with equipment vendors, engineering personnel, manufacturing supervision and production employees in the solution design and implementation efforts * Ability to provide technical analysis (cost estimates, feasibility, specifications, interpretation of requirements), develop alternatives, and prepare recommendations for capital solutions to problems * Understanding of project management tools and requirements such as purchase requisitioning, contractor time monitoring, internal orders, and project timelines * Ability to proactively identify novel/unique opportunities for utilization of new and improved technologies replacing obsolete or less productive equipment & systems, leveraging existing technologies within the corporation whenever appropriate * An understanding of food industry and construction practices, standards & codes to ultimately provide sound and economical technical solutions * Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:* * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical / Mechatronics) or equivalent work experience * Minimum 4 years of experience in Operations, Engineering, or related field #LI-TL1 #LI-Onsite The Hershey Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
