Parsons Corporation Senior Specialist - Horticultural Manager (Infrastructure) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Job Description:

Parsons seeking a skilled and experienced Horticulture Manager/Expert for a large-scale infrastructure project. The Horticulture Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of horticultural elements, including landscaping, green spaces, and vegetation management, to enhance the aesthetic appeal, environmental sustainability, and ecological integrity of the project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, landscape architecture, or related fields, with a passion for integrating nature-based solutions into infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all horticultural activities, including planting, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.

  • Develop and implement horticultural strategies and techniques to ensure the health and growth of plants during construction period including nursery.

  • Collaborate with landscape architects and designers to develop and implement landscape plans. Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of gardens, parks, or other horticultural areas. Monitor and improve the aesthetic appeal of the landscape.

  • Prepare and manage budgets for horticultural operations.

  • Source and procure necessary equipment, tools, and supplies. Optimize the utilization of resources while maintaining cost efficiency.

  • Identify and diagnose plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.

  • Develop and implement appropriate control measures, including the use of pesticides or organic alternatives. Monitor and maintain the health and quality of plants.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, permits, and safety standards. Implement and enforce proper safety protocols for horticultural activities.

  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in horticulture, botany, plant science, or a related field is typically required.

  • Experience: 20 years - Previous experience in horticulture or a related field is often necessary, with a track record of managing horticultural operations.

  • Experience in landscape design, plant propagation, and maintenance is beneficial.

  • In-depth knowledge of plants, including their cultivation, propagation, and care. Familiarity with landscaping principles, soil science, pest management, and irrigation systems.

  • Understanding of horticultural equipment and machinery.

  • Strong leadership abilities to supervise and motivate a team. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to analyze horticultural data, diagnose problems, and make informed decisions.
