The Collins Aerospace Alabama Service Center (Rohr Aero Services, LLC) located in Foley, AL is looking for candidates with high technical potential for employment as apprentices to learn the skills of disassembly, inspection, repair, and overhaul of aircraft engine nacelle components. The apprentice shall receive work experience and job-related education in all phases of the occupation including safe work practices, necessary to develop the skill and proficiency of a skilled professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be Enrolled and maintain enrollment at Coastal Alabama Community College and be granted admission to the Associates of Applied Science – Airframe Technology Degree plan (AAS-AMT).

  • Must be able to maintain 2.5 GPA through post-secondary education.

  • Adhere to Registered Apprenticeship Standards and on-the-job learning (OJL) and related instruction in standards. (These will be provided via email to the candidate at the time of interview.)

  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

  • Use various hand/power tools and other assembly equipment.

  • Reading and interpreting written instructions, drawings, blueprints, schematics, illustrations and/or process documentation.

  • Must complete all other Collins Aerospace standards as required.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

  • Safely perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Must have a HS Diploma, GED, or other high school equivalency credential prior to date of hire.

  • Apprenticeship Program Requires Enrollment in Coastal Community College’s AMT Program.

    Term:

  • Approximately 4.5-year apprenticeship. (Must complete 6,000 hours on-the job learning (OJL) according to the Appendix within the Standards) Includes On-the-Job training and college degree plan.

  • One-year probationary period applies.

  • Earn an Associates of Applied Science – Airframe Technology: Coastal Alabama Community College.

  • Successfully sit for FAA Airframe License exams

  • Upon successful completion of program (completing all OJL hours, obtaining college diploma, and sitting for and passing the FAA Airframe license exams will result in graduation from the program and eligibility for Mechanic Inspector role.

  • Nationally recognized Registered Apprenticeship certificate through the U.S. Department of Labor will also be awarded upon successful completion of Apprenticeship program.

    Wages:

  • Starting pay is $17.10 with opportunities to progressively increase based on satisfactory performance.

  • Wages are earned while at work and at school according to the Apprenticeship schedule.

  • Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, becomes eligible to promote into Mechanic/Inspector position.
