Google Technical Program Manager, Network Repair Automation in Dublin, Ireland

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Candidates will typically have 5 years of experience in program management.

  • Experience working with optical networking technologies.

  • Experience working with stakeholders across multi-dimensional programs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Candidates will typically have 5 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in network automation software development, with basic coding / scripting skills (e.g. Python, Go).

  • Experience with significant optical network planing and design or field operations in network data centers or colocation facilities.

  • Experience defining and migrating workloads between teams.

  • Experience measuring and analysing metrics, data analysis, process analysis and process improvement for human and automated processes.

Google Networking Operations provides global infrastructure support to external network operators and infrastructure partners where Google’s network meets the operator’s or partner’s network. Our goals are maintaining operational health and optimizing capacity in the most efficient, scalable, manner. In doing so, we balance improving the experience for end-users with the aims and business goals of our internal stakeholders.

In this role, you will work closely with network repair engineers, collect the pain points from repair operations, make requirements collections and work on better automation solutions. You will also work with software engineers to make solid delivery plans to enable Google can repair our network faster and more efficiently.

  • Coordinate between various cross-functional teams, set clear expectations about responsibilities, communicate with stakeholders and measure success.

  • Identify problems and drive cross-functional solutions across our wider operations organization, increasing operational efficiency year/year.

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams to represent and advocate operational needs, and well as successfully implement plans.

  • Manage Network repair team OKR planning and project tracking, drive and lead optical and IP NPI projects and network operational automation project.
