Google Technical Program Manager Lead, Enterprise Connectivity Planning in Dublin, Ireland

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Candidates will typically have 8 years of experience in direct line management of both in person and virtual/remote workers in a technical field.

  • Typically 7 years of experience in network infrastructure acquisition, specifically dark fiber, metro-ethernet, and transport systems.

  • Typically 5 years of experience in program management.

  • Typically 3 years of experience in leadership role(s) with/without direct reports.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience working in a network vendor or telecommunications carrier environment.

  • Experience leading and coaching a team to meet goals.

  • Experience managing large-scale projects in a matrixed environment.

  • Experience with network planning and engineering, including long haul and metro networks, network availability, and resiliency analysis.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

  • Manage a team of local and remote Program and Technical Program Managers managing network acquisition.

  • Understand partner team dependencies, constraints, designs, and forecast mechanisms that impact the business by engaging early and often, collaborating on process improvements and communication.

  • Be able to program manage the delivery of network infrastructure projects involving long haul dark fiber, metro fiber, leased capacity/circuits, and inside plant fiber from inception through delivery.

  • Collaborate with Cloud and networking technical teams to intake, analyze, and develop cost and executable plans for Cloud networking requests.

  • Lead google-wide strategic network initiatives from concept to plan definition and pass to execute teams by refining large-scale ambiguous projects to well defined problems, processes, and solutions.
