Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. Grinding Technician in Dover, New Jersey

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Grinding Technician to join our team! At UTRS, we enjoy the benefits of working in a collaborative environment of close-knit team members. We are looking for someone that will support our mission to consistently deliver creative, high-quality, technology-based services to our customers on time and within budget.

This person is responsible for CNC grinding operations. This position is located at Picatinny Arsenal.

What will you be doing?

This position will be a key member of the Prototype Engineering team. Duties include:

  • Entry level technician to work CNC grinding operations for profile and cylindrical grinding

  • Complete basic surface grinding to complete secondary operations on cylindrical components

  • Be able to complete in-process inspections in open setup (mics, calipers) and optical comparator (angles and overlays)

  • Be able to operate mechanical press and hydraulic press to assemble projectiles

  • Be able to operate CNC lathe

  • Be able to inspect parts coming off CNC machines for visual defects and workmanship

  • Deburr and clean components being run on CNC grinders or Lathes

  • Maintain traceability on material alloys and raw materials being machined for each job

  • Basic computer skills to enter inspection data, etc.

    What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

    This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

  • Must be able to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process

  • Pass drug and alcohol testing

  • Must have good mechanical skills and experience

  • High standard of quality and efficiency

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Any precision grinding experience desired, cylindrical grinding experience very desired

  • CNC manufacturing experience beneficial

  • Solid knowledge of shop mathematics

  • Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly

  • Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Must be able to work in a physical capacity, lifting and moving heavy object

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a government driver’s license

  • High School diploma required, College degree not required but beneficial

  • Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply
