General Motors HSPO Operations and Logistics Intern in Dandenong, Australia

Job Description

As the HSPO Operations/Logistics Intern with GM Australia & New Zealand, you’ll gain a diverse range of corporate experience, marketability, and exposure to the exciting, fast paced automotive industry.

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in special projects and continuous improvement activities. This will support you in developing an understanding in project management, warehousing principles, standardised work documentation creation and maintenance as well as implementing GMS Principles.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Participating in tasks for project coordination for continuous improvement solutions/ initiatives including CAD layout updates.

  • Communicating and engaging different levels in the organization where there is a process change, they are responsible for managing.

  • Understand and promote Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles, including maintaining the Business Plan Deployment boards.

  • Assist in highlighting and addressing occupational health and safety issues as they arise and report these issues.

  • Assist with the development, implementation and modification of standard operating procedures.

  • Create simple data reports for operations alongside guidance from the Operations Manager

  • Verifying system generated daily reporting jobs are run and sent to recipients.

  • Assist in maintaining operating work queues to ensure they are cleared timely.

  • Support Workplace of Choice activities and events.

  • Assist with Australia Packaging Covenant signatory requirements & Environmental reports.

  • Assist with identifying DG products missing Safety Data Sheets.

About you

You’re an enthusiastic individual with a desire to learn. You are currently completing a relevant undergraduate degree (Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration) with minimum of two semesters remaining (post internship in 2025). You can demonstrate:

  • A can-do attitude with a great work ethic

  • Ability to clearly articulate messages in written and verbal form

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate/negotiate in a professional manner internally and externally.

  • Strong ability to think outside the box when dealing with different projects.

  • Proactive and a self-starter who is able to motivate peers and stakeholders.

  • Skill with Microsoft Office

This is a 6-month internship role commencing in late June 2024. The application process will be:
