MITRE’s N934 Space Intelligence Systems Department integrates technology and domain expertise to deliver solutions across our sponsor organization that develops, deploys, and operates spaceborne capabilities. We help ensure overhead users get the right data at the right place and time to deliver the mission.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Space System Cyber Threat Analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME) who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Cyber Exercise and Wargame planning and execution

  • Collaborate with senior government staff and advise agency Chief Information Security Officer on cyber exercise and wargame planning and execution

  • Leverage knowledge and expertise in space systems and cyber threat intelligence to develop exercise and wargame cyber scenarios

  • Brief senior cyber leaders in preparation for exercise and wargame events

  • Participate in cyber exercise and wargame event planning

  • Conduct annual sponsor cyber threat assessment in accordance with IC Standard 502-1 (https://www.dni.gov/files/documents/ICD/ICS%20502-01.pdf) .

  • Research and analyze current and future counterspace cyber threats to develop and publish tailored cyber threat assessments

  • Work closely with multiple sponsors (including seniors) to address cyber threats across various domains such as space, ground, air, maritime and cyber

  • Collaborate with counterspace cyber threat subject matter experts across the US IC, DoD, Civil and commercial industry

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with senior government leaders.

  • Exceptional writing skills, preferably writing products such as threat or vulnerability assessment papers, briefings, etc.

  • Excellent oral communications, briefing/presentation skills

  • Experience with space systems, including familiarity with space, ground, link, and user segments

  • Knowledge of US space architectures such as DoD, IC, Civil or commercial

  • Experience with IC, DoD and open-source cyber threat intelligence products/tools, examples include:

  • MITRE ATT&CK®

  • Aerospace SPARTA

  • DIA product example (https://www.dia.mil/Portals/110/Documents/News/Military_Power_Publications/Challenges_Security_Space_2022.pdf)

  • Knowledge of defensive cyber operations

  • Top Secret, SCI clearance with CI Polygraph

  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or similar technical area of study

  • 10 or more years of industry work experience focused in space systems and cybersecurity

  • Familiar with the IC and its TCPED processes, roles and responsibilities
