Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. Electrochemist in Butte, Montana

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS), a growing technology firm, is currently seeking a qualified Electrochemist to work in the Butte, MT research facility. This position is an excellent opportunity to be part of a multifaceted effort to optimize and commercialize our patented titanium production method while expanding your scientific career. The successful candidate will have skills and experience, as summarized below.

What will you be doing?

The Electrochemist will:

  • Design and perform experiments for molten-salt electrolysis

  • Perform appropriate tests and analysis to characterize samples

  • Write test plans and test procedures

  • Analyze experiments and report findings

  • Procure, configure, and/or design equipment necessary for experimentation and testing

  • Assist with and perform all laboratory procedures

  • Keep accurate records of experiments and maintain them in a laboratory database

  • Report activities, both written and orally

  • Set up, operate/monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment

  • Contribute to the maintenance of the laboratory facility

  • Implement and follow safety procedures

  • Maintain inventory of chemicals and equipment

  • Some travel will be required

    What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with high-temperature, molten-salt electrochemistry

  • Experience with test equipment and procedures for molten-salt chemistry and electrochemistry

  • Experience with electrowinning or electrorefining

  • Excellent communication, both written and orally, is a must

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and in a team environment

  • Adaptable to new situations, equipment, and work environments

  • Experience with MS Office software and various data acquisition software packages

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. may be required on occasion

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity for science in general

  • B.S. degree with experience in electrochemistry or related field. An M.S. or Ph.D. degree is preferred, depending on background and experience.

  • Must be a US Citizen or able to obtain clearance to work in the USA.

  • Must be able to multitask and operate multiple machines/experiments at one time.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and in a team environment.

  • Adaptable to new situations, equipment, and work environments.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. may be required on occasion.

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity for science in general is a must.

  • Must be a US Citizen or able to obtain clearance to work in the USA.
