The Army Modernization Department is at the forefront of transforming how the Army develops and delivers capabilities to warfighters. The Department includes support to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology ((ASA(ALT)), Army Futures Command (AFC), Army Research Lab, the Army G8, and the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO). The MITRE Project Lead for Army Futures Command Headquarters will lead high visibility efforts with significant impact, will regularly engage with senior leaders to understand their priorities and shape work, and will be a strong collaborator across the Division and MNS. Major focus areas include mission engineering, system-of-system engineering, modeling & simulation, analysis, experimentation, next generation command and control, human machine integration, and contested logistics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Primary interface to multiple senior sponsors within AFC HQ

  • Define and lead fast-paced, high impact work in the areas of systems engineering, concept development, decision aids, analytics, and Army transformation capability integration

  • Staff and lead a diverse 8-12 staff year MITRE team

  • Enable the Army’s transformation focused on requirements and integration through the delivery of concise, impactful technical deliverables, briefings, reports, and Executive level recommendations to senior sponsors

  • Collaborate external to MITRE with AFC HQ, their sub-components, and stakeholders (e.g., Futures and Concepts Center (FCC), Cross Functional Teams, Army Applications Lab, the Directorate of Integration, and their acquisition counterparts) as well as contractors

  • Collaborate internally with MITRE Project Leads, Department Manager, and Chief Engineer

  • Through deep understanding of AFC mission, provide thought leadership and clear, timely, actionable recommendations in multiple areas focused on systems engineering, DOTMLPF-P$ integration, analytics, decision aids, and Army Transformation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related discipline

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML

  • Familiarity with modern data approaches such as data mesh and data fabric

  • Knowledge of the Army Requirements Process

  • Experience working with DoD

  • Adept at clearly communicating concise, actionable recommendations to Senior Leaders

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Army

  • Proven track record of establishing trusted relationships with General Officer / SES level sponsors, shaping work, and collaborating across MITRE

  • Knowledge of Army systems and Program Managers especially in the areas of data, communications, information exchanges, interoperability, robotics, deep sensing, contested logistics, and air and missile defense

  • Knowledge of Army Modernization and Transformation efforts

  • Familiarity with AFC Cross Functional Teams

  • Experience developing Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML and leading teams focused on System of Systems Engineering and integration

  • Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
